Recent Student Awards:
The Martin Luther King, Jr. contest is hosted by the Black Heritage Committee. It is open to all schools in the high desert and all grade levels. In the past it had included essays, poetry, and art. Since Canyon Ridge High School was created, it has boasted winners every year. The same person won the essay contest two years in a row. In later years we had poetry and art winners as well. This year the contest was for essays only. It is a tremendous honor that Canyon Ridge swept the contest with all three high school awards. The competition ends with a celebration on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday at Victor Valley College with speakers and entertainment by dancers, singers, and musicians. The students are given their prizes on stage. All three of this year's winners attended with their families. We are very proud of our winners!
